I will be working with an agency called, Imagine! and more specifically Out and About. Out and About is a private, not-for-profit agency that works with people of all ages and the model used is called Therapeutic recreation. Therapeutic recreation uses treatment, education and recreation services to help people with illnesses, disabilities and other conditions to develop and use their leisure in ways that enhance their health, functional abilities, independence and quality of life.
I will be a Recreation Instructor, splitting my time between working with adults in the day program, helping kids in the after-school program, as well as helping on some evenings and weekends. I am really excited to work with Out and About and am sure I will have many stories to tell.
